Grand for 5 nights!

I just stayed at the Grand for five nights with my family of four. It was a great experience! Highlights: Dining: Habibi was amazing. Still thinking about how delicious every dish was. Spa: The facilities feel very luxurious. If you like deep tissue massages, you must ask for Karen Quintero. She gave me one of the best deep tissue massages of my life! Shows: The fire show was a highlight for my kids.
Scammed $50 out of us.

I am not sure why this property, being such a big resort, need to scam normal tourists. Just after getting out of the Cancun airport few people approached us and presented themselves as "Airport staff". I was reluctant to talk to them and showed their airport badges and said no need to worry we are from the airport need to give you useful information. They suggested that they have a resort "moon palace" where they would like to invite us for an all-inclusive day pass, providing breakfast lunch and dinner with access to the waterpark for kids. The purpose of this promotion is to show "how to do vacation" with them. All we have to do is to deposit 1000MXN/$50 which we will get refunded when go to the hotel. We took the deal, deposited 1000MXN to the gentleman named Juan Carlos and he provided two receipts. Just the day before the scheduled day-pass, he asked for my room number at the hotel where we were staying for "sending the driver who will pick us up". I said I will be in the lobby, the driver can just report to the lobby when he arrived. Mr. Juan Carlos kept pushing me for my room number, which I did not see a reason to provide and for his desperation, I got suspicious about their actual intention. It turns out that they need to gather families "from the US" for their timeshare presentation, which is an aggressive marketing campaign where they push you to buy their membership. You are not entitled to get anything if you do not stay in the presentation which may go on for 4-6 hours. Realizing it I did not want to waste our hard earned vacation and got scammed of my $50 by the moon palace. This was my only negative experience in Cancùn. I am not sure why the airport authority gives these scammers badges to scam people. Be careful, do not talk with anybody while coming out of the airport even if they pretend to be airport staff - they are actually scammers and thieves. The airport authority should take action against these people if they want US tourist to keep coming.
